I am a partner specialising in construction at Macfarlane Law. 

 

Prior to setting up my own practice, I was the founding partner of Weightmans (Scotland) LLP. Previously a partner - and founder head of the Construction Group - at Semple Fraser, having joined the firm in 1992.

 

I have extensive experience in both contentious and non-contentious work and have notable successes in conducting arbitrations against Senior Counsel. 

 

I have a particular interest in building contract arbitrations and adjudications, with an eye to resolve disputes in a commercially sensible way. I am recommended as a leader in my field by the legal directories.

 

I am a member of the Adjudication Society and am regularly invited by RICS to adjudication discussions as part of their Dispute Resolution Faculty. I also advise arbiters and adjudicators on legal and procedural issues and assisted RICS in drawing up their guidelines for surveyors acting as arbiters.
